Masjid Jamek is one of the oldest mosques in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is located at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak River and was designed by Arthur Benison Hubback.
The mosque has a Moorish architecture. Across the Klang River stands the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, a building that was designed by the same architect and shares a similar style.
Nearby is the Masjid Jamek LRT station that is served by the Kelana Jaya Line, Sri Petaling Line and Ampang Line. The station is located between Chinatown and Little India; Dataran Merdeka is also nearby.
The striking red-Brick and marble building is inspired by the mogul/north Indian Islamic architecture..This mosque will be over flooded with the crowd up to the street on Friday..Definitely a must visit for all who come to Kuala Lumpur.Honestly, this is my first time set my foot into this mosque (last week while i'm in KL before going to Malacca..)One more thing,Visitors are advised to observe the rules of dressing and decorum which are listed at the entrance. They need to remove their shoes and must be respectably dressed. Special robes are provided if you are not appropriately attired.
*Speaking of which, have you heard about Pudu Jail wall Torn Down Last night??

Nice photos,2 thumbs up. Normally super packed during Friday Prayers. Few times, I saw many people solat in the rain due to limited space.
ReplyDeleteSad to see the Pudu Jail gone, for the sake of "development".
